Yummy Breakfast Food and Fun Family Outings

August 15, 20134 Comments

I went to Costco last night with Kev and loaded up on a bunch of yummy, healthy stuff.  It’s always nice to have Kev along when buying ginormous bags of salt for the water softener, flour, sugar and all the millions of other things that make their way into my cart!  Yay.

Anyway, I bought a bunch of fresh produce last night, so this morning I decided some chocolate protein pancakes were in order.  I also had a bunch of kids who wanted protein pancakes too.  My recipe only makes 4-5 pancakes at a time, so I usually don’t make them for the kids.  I usually make them for ME, eat a couple and then freeze (i.e. hoard) the rest.

Sooo, today I decided to make the pancakes in my food processor (instead of the blender) so I could double the recipe.

Chocolate Protein Pancake Batter

I’m happy to say they turned out great!  I don’t think the food processor got the oatmeal quite as fine as the blender does, but it seemed to work out and nobody complained.

Chocolate Protein Pancakes

I had three happy kids who gobbled them right up!

I topped mine with a little natural peanut butter, strawberries, raspberries, some banana slices and a drizzle of sugar free syrup.  YUM!

These are heavenly.

Speaking of heavenly, I had a wonderful breakfast yesterday too!

OIAJ with hemp hearts

OIAJ (Oats in a Jar!) topped with hemp hearts.  I just made my typical Chocolate Peanut Butter oatmeal (sans the peanut butter) and then put it in this mostly empty peanut butter jar.  Seriously so good.

I really loved the hemp hearts on top too.  This filled me up for hours.

Yesterday, I decided to take the kids to the library and the park.  I wanted to enjoy these last couple weeks of summer!  We brought our lunch to the park and had a little picnic…

The kids at the Park

I brought a Mango Chia Seed Spinach Protein Shake for me (recipe coming soon!) and I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids.  We also had some Pirate’s Booty, cherries (the epitome of summer IMO), string cheese and some carrots with Laughing Cow cheese.  YUM.

Me and the kids at the park

I love my kiddos.  They had fun playing on the playground…

And a couple of my boys got SOAKED playing in the sprinkler park…

We had a lot of fun.

We also had a lot of fun on Monday night celebrating Kev’s birthday.  We decided to take the kids to Airborne, a fun indoor trampoline arena.

At Airbourne with the kids

We had a ball AND got a GREAT workout too!  I loved it.

Kev tried to take some pics of me, but they all turned out like this….

Blurry pic of me at airbourne

Lovely.  So, we all stood still for a sec so we could get a semi decent picture.

Afterward, we dropped the kids off at home and then Kev and I went to dinner at Red Robin.  We decided to share a burger and fries and we were both stuffed (sorry no pic, dang it!)

On Tuesday, we also celebrated our 17th Anniversary!  Woah, how did we get so old???  Time flies.

Kev came home from work with some beautiful flowers for me!

He really didn’t want to pose for this picture.

However, I told him I HAD to take a pic because it really doesn’t get much better than this in my world.  🙂  The flowers were beautiful and I’ve always loved Kev in “dress up” clothes!  hee hee.

I’ve been lovin’ these flowers so much this week!

That night, Kev and I went to see Red 2 at the movie theater and I thought it was so funny.  Kev didn’t love it, but I laughed and laughed through the whole thing!

Man, we’ve had a busy week, huh?  Fun, but busy.

Oh, I got some fun things in the mail yesterday.  I was sent some Powerade Zero drops to try…

Powerade Zero drops

What a fun idea!  I really love this idea because I can add as much or as little to my water as I like.  I’m a HUGE fan of water and I’m not a huge fan of sickeningly sweet beverages.  These drops will be perfect.

I’m getting ready to head to the gym in a sec and I think I’ll add some of these drops to my water bottle.  I’ll let ya know what I think!

Well, I better run.  I’m hoping to get some dinner in the oven on a timer before I head out!  Crazy life.

I hope you all have a fantastic night!

I’ve Decided My Healthy Cleanse is Over!

November 20, 2012Leave a Comment

Happy Tuesday to you all!  Tuesday’s are our craziest day of the week, so merely surviving is a plus. 😉 Well, I have officially ended my “healthy cleanse!”  I started on October 8th and it was technically supposed to go for 8 weeks.  However, I always considered it more of a 6 week thingy because healthy grains were added back in the last two weeks.  At that point, it essentially became just a typical healthy diet. Anyway, I told y’all about the nasty flu bug that hit our family a couple weeks ago.  Well, that pretty much did me in Continue Reading…

Back to School…and Order!

September 3, 2012Leave a Comment

Oh my WORD….I’m so sorry I’ve been neglecting this little blog!  Yes, I’m still alive!!  I’ve decided I need about 14 more hours each day….without kids….and with no distractions. Wouldn’t that be nice??  I think so. ***************************** Well, my world has been rocked this past week!  The kids started back up to school.  We had a wonderful summer, but I’m ready for a little more structure and order ’round here.  I’ve had to go back to waking up at 6:30 every morning again.  I know that’s not early to most of you, but it’s early to ME! But, y’all would Continue Reading…

Picnic in the Park + Healthy Food!

August 17, 2012Leave a Comment

Mmmm K, just to let you know, there are currently 14 children in my house (5 are my own)  AND I think every single toy in the entire house is OUT! Auuughhh! Man. I love all my kid’s friends and I’m glad they all like to hang out here, but I’m feelin’ a little CrAzY!  Soooo, if I start talking gibberish or don’t make any sense, you will understand.  It’s a wee bit tough to concentrate right now. 😉 Alrighty then. I’m sorry I’ve been a lame blogger.  I’ve been busy enjoying the last little bit of summer with the Continue Reading…
