Oats in a Jar (OIAJ)

I love oats in a jar!  You basically just take your favorite oatmeal recipe, cook it and pour it (still warm) in a mostly empty peanut butter jar.  Then, the remainder of the peanut butter melts and mixes into your oatmeal.  It is heavenly!  I’m always happy when I finish up a jar of peanut butter!

Ode-to-OIAJ

My favorite oatmeal recipes to make into OIAJ are:

Chocolate Oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup Oatmeal
  • Water (enough to cover the oatmeal + a little more)
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 teaspoons stevia (or sweetener of your choice)
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed

Mix oatmeal and water in microwave safe bowl.  Microwave for 2 minutes.  Mix protein powder. stevia, cocoa and flax seed in.  Pour into empty peanut butter jar.  Mix and enjoy!

Vanilla Oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup Oatmeal
  • Water (enough to cover the oatmeal + a little more)
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 teaspoons stevia (or sweetener of your choice)
  • 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed

Mix oatmeal and water in microwave safe bowl.  Microwave for 2 minutes.  Mix protein powder, stevia and flax seed in.  Pour into empty peanut butter jar.  Mix and enjoy!

**Pretty much the same recipe, just a chocolate or vanilla version.  I also love to top them with sliced banana or nuts.  It’s so good!
